Open Coil Mattresses are constucted by using many springs linked in rows and supported by a perimeter fixing usually a steel wire rod, other materials can be used.
The spings vary in diameter and wire width to create a difference in tension i.e. soft to firm.
The ‘open coil spring’ unit is then layered in a selection on fillings and encased in an outer cover.
